Situated on the banks of river Godavari , Sri Gyana Saraswati Temple is the only temple in the south india dedicated it Goddess of knowledge.
The significance of this temple lies in the fact that the idol of the Goddess is said to have been installed by the great sage Veda Vyas, who authored the Mahabharata. Pleased by the penance of sage Veda Vyas, Goddess Saraswati appeard before him and granted her presence in the form of divine trinty i.e., Saraswati , Lakshmi and Kali. These idols were miraculously created from sand.
Children are brought here for the ceremony of ‘Akshara Puja’ to seek the blessings of the goddess of Knowledge. Major festivals celebrated here are Dassera, Navarathri Utsavalu, Mahashivarathri, Vyasa Purnima & Vasant Panchami.
