The 62nd annual Indian Travel Congress of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), scheduled to take place at Bali International Convention Centre, Indonesia from March 26-28, 2015, will deliberate on redefining the relevance of travel agents in the rapidly changing market conditions. The Managing Committee of the Association has adopted the theme ‘Reflections: Redefining Relevance’ for this year’s edition of the convention.

Announcing the same in Delhi, Sunil Kumar R, Acting President, TAAI, said that the theme will reflect on everything related to the convention. “Our convention destination also gets reflected seamlessly with our theme,” he said. Indonesia, he said, faced numerous adversities in the past and has bounced back strongly, he said, adding, “Tough times don’t last, but tough people and organisations do,” he stated.
Technology is making major inroads into the travel business, and customers are more aware than people in the business, Kumar said. Therefore, TAAI wants the membership to “reflect and redefine” their relevance, he said.
TAAI will also launch its Preferred Partner Programme at this year’s convention. Harmandeep Singh Anand, Secretary, TAAI, said that the Programme would entail supporting principals who support TAAI membership. “We want to create partnerships with those who want to support us through this Programme,” he said. They can be tourism boards, cruise companies, airlines, hotels, etc. Anand said that the endeavour is to change the perception that TAAI members are mere ticketing agents.
