The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will soon introduce a takeaway e-bedroll facility.Under this, bedrolls can be booked online and from food plazas/fast food units at stations set up by the corporation.
Passengers could avail this facility by paying Rs 140 for two bed sheets and a pillow, Rs 110 for a blanket. These can either be purchased together at a cost of Rs 250 or separately. The bedroll is a takeaway facility and passengers can take it home.
“Initially, the facility will be introduced on a trial basis at four stations this month. These stations are: New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Mumbai Central,” said the IRCTC.
A major feature of the scheme is that the bedroll is a takeaway facility and the passengers can take it home.Currently, bedrolls are provided only in air-conditioned classes in trains. With this scheme in operation, passengers of sleeper classes can also get a takeaway bedroll kit at a highly concessional price.
