Over one lakh pilgrims from across the country have till now registered for this year’s Amarnath yatra in south Kashmir Himalayas beginning from July 2. “Advance registration has crossed the one lakh mark. This registration is being done through the 432 bank branches of Punjab National Bank, J&K Bank and YES Bank which are spread over 32 States and UTs”, CEO Amarnathji Shrine Board, P K Tripathi said.

The 48-day pilgrimage will commence from July 2 and conclude on August 18, the day of Raksha Bandhan, he said. He said that 7,500 pilgrims per day are permitted to undertake the yatra along the two routes, via Baltal and Pahalgam.

The list of bank branches which have been authorized to undertake advance registration of yatris is available on shrine board’s website www.Shriamarnathjishrine.Com. The procedure for securing different types of registrations for pilgrims is also up on the site.
